“Past Dreams of the Future,” 2014.
Nakagin Capsule Tower was built in 1972 by architect Kisho Kurokawa and is one of the few remaining buildings from the Japanese Metabolism movement. The building is in a state of disrepair and each year that passes the threat of demolition looms nearer. In ”Past Dreams of the Future,” I transformed into my perception of an inhabitant of Nakagin Capsule Tower, channeling the dreams of the future the building once embodied, as well as the fear and anxiety of what is yet to come.
